This includes showing you previous opportunities run by organisations and forcing organisations to publish what you need to pay, and what you will get in return when they list through us.

Please refer to these guidlines for best file sizes
-
What do you mean by "short introduction"?A short introduction should be a very short description of your submission. This is equivalent to the size of a tweet (280 characters) which defines your submission and allows organisations and judges to have an immediate understanding of what they are looking at. Short descriptions are especially important when organisations are managing hundreds of applications. They may also be used for social media This may feel like repeated information from the works description, but descriptions are not capped, and give you more space to define your work.
-
What does "add to portfolio" mean? When you submit a project on Zealous, we allow you to add this project on your public portfolio. This allows you to save time in updating a public facing portfolio, and allows you to reuse this project on other submissions. Doing so creates a copy, so you can edit your submission and portfolio independently of each other. Changes made to your project in your portfolio will not be reflected in your submission.
-
What is a "category"?Organisations hosting an opportunity can choose to add categories. These reflect their needs and could be based on artform, mediums, themes, sizes, who is submitting... These may sometimes have different judges associated to them. Best choose what you feel describes you and your work. Should you have any questions, please take it with the organisation directly.
-
What is the largest file I can upload?Right now the sky is the limit (well 1Gb to be exact). But large files take time to load, and if those selecting candidates are not patient enough, they may skip your submission. We try and compress where we can, but this could lead to quality loss, so best submit what you feel reflects your work best in the smallest possible format. Our guidlines would be that: Images shouldn't be larger than 5Mb PDF files won't open directly in the browser for judges without the need to download them.
-
What should the title of my submission be?That's quite a complex question. The hosts of opportunities on Zealous choose what you should be submitting. since this could be anything, there is no exact rule. But based on our experience this could be any of the following: An individual work Usually the name of the work being uploaded. A body of works The title could be the name of the body of works, or it could be your name - be sure to check the guidelines for any tips on what it should be.
-
What submission fee package should I select?Every opportunity is different. The organisers can create any number of combinations of fee structures. Ultimately it will depend on how many submissions you wish to make. Check to see if some packages offer you a discount on making multiple submissions. Organisations might also have created packages for students or the elderly. If you have any questions about which package to pick, best ask the organisation hosting the call directly.
-
Who gets to my contact details? You contact details are only ever shared with the organisations you submit to us, for the purpose of emailing you the status of your submission. We also provide recommendations for opportunities that might fit your skillset, and a newsletter. But you'll only ever receive those if you sign up to them.
-
Why are there duplicate questions when I submit?Zealous provides organisations the basics fields to take submissions. Sometimes, organisations are unaware of the default settings and duplicate those questions on their application forms. We are currently updating our designs to make it easier for them to see duplication before they open submission. For now though, best copy-paste the information in both places, just in case.
-
Why is my submission draft?Zealous saves your submission from the moment you accept the Guidelines for an opportunity. These will show up as drafts on your submissions page until you complete them. By clicking on the gear at the top right of your submission you can: Complete your submission Remove the draft Contact the organisation hosting the call on Zealous Show the submitted project on your portfolio
